It's so aggravating being around folks who won't even attempt to learn outside their worldview. Like your words and thoughts aren't impactful they're just NPC talk options for ignorance side quests.

Couldn't stop reading this & loved the Lispector collage. I hope your friend reads her someday.

I had a boyfriend when I was young that told me he only liked music by men, and that women’s voices just weren’t as powerful. Absolutely diabolical man

This is the first day i’ve been on Substacks and, although this might be unrelated, i’ve realized that i’ve associated what’s “worth” reading based on the number of likes it has. Something that ultimately only hurts myself, causing me to miss out on the experiences of reading excellent writings that have yet to be recognized.

When it comes to reading things only from women authors I believe it’s because we yearn to be understood even through the undertones of text. Which has also affected my relationship with people somehow. I’ve yet to find the words to explain that though.

i read this with my mouth open because it feels like i’m reading my own feelings and experiences. this is the first year i, accidentally, have been reading mostly books written by women. i think this is naturally happening with the more i grow up and identify most with the conflicts i also experience. as much as i love some books written by men, there is an undeniable difference in reading them. i also had a similar conversation with a friend, unfortunately that seems to be a common thinking.
